The Checkerboard Endzone was started by Doug Dickey in 1964 in his first year as head coach. These very popular endzones were taken out in 1968 with the arrival of turf to Neyland Stadium. The endzones were put back onto the field in 1989 and are still there today. The endzones are probaly the most popular endzones in the country. The Checkerboard Endzone is just one special part of Tennessee Football. |
